SmokeForecast is a public map. We keep the product simple and collect as little as possible.

Accounts

There are no user accounts, saved locations, or personal profiles in the current version.

What the site stores in your browser

Map position, forecast hour, and opacity can appear in the page URL so you can share a view. That state lives in the link you open or copy — not in a SmokeForecast account.

Cookies & analytics

The Phase 1 site does not set advertising cookies and does not load a third-party analytics script. If privacy-friendly analytics are added later, this page will be updated before they ship, and map rendering will not depend on them.

Third-party services

• Hosting / CDN: the website and (in production) forecast assets may be served via Cloudflare.
• Basemap tiles: map background tiles may be requested from the configured basemap provider (currently CARTO/OpenStreetMap-style tiles).
• Forecast data origin: smoke fields are derived from NOAA HRRR data distributed on AWS Open Data.

Those services may receive standard technical data such as IP address and user agent when your browser requests assets.
